Functional Pottery
As a functional potter, my intention is to create natural forms with an organic feel by allowing the touch of the maker to be visible . I manipulate the surface texture, make impressions, and leave imperfections to heighten the senses in a harmonious way. I relish the way a mug nestled in the hand responds to slight variations in texture through the juxtaposition of exposed raw clay with smooth glossy glazes. I favor subtle color and minimal decoration over vibrant hues or bold graphics. I strive for a balance between surface and form. My aim is to create a vessel that is as inviting and nourishing to hold and use as the contents within.
