Christine Barron is a 2D artist that received her MFA from Rochester Insitute of Technology. After a decade of producing digital work, she has returned to traditional media at Broadway Studios and Gallery. She uses acrylic and water on raw canvas in large format. The primary area of interest is in creating abstract landscapes with a focus on atmosphere and mood. Using environmental design grounded in visited places she looks to evoke a place and emotion. On her travels in natural landscapes, she has experienced places that have a raw undeveloped feel untouched by humanity. These spaces are places to visit, not linger. Contrasting layers of paint and color with strong geometric shapes are a consistent presence. Feelings become embodied as vast timeless forms unaffected by our personal lives. These forms are not uncaring malicious forces; just inevitable and without bias. The viewer is invited to share this space without direct engagement, but instead a glimpse of the natural essence distilled onto the canvas.
