Show Knoxville what you + your work are all about!
Maker’s matter. The goal of The Maker City initiative is to shine a spotlight on makers in the greater Knoxville-area. We’re always looking for new ways to share your stories and show our community the amazing work you do, and that’s why we started Maker City Mondays. Each week on Monday a different maker takes over The Maker City’s Instagram story to share their work, their process, and their story.
We want you. If you’re a maker, we want to share who you are and what you do! You can do an Instagram Stories Takeover as part of our #makercitymonday series to make connections with consumers, creative collaborators, and retailers throughout the region. This takeover series provides the perfect platform to highlight new products, illustrate your process, and talk, in your own words, about what makes your work so darn cool. Every maker has a story: maybe your grandma taught you to sew when you were young, or you picked up a paintbrush and never looked back, or you dabble in a million different mediums and just can’t stop creating. Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been in business for years, we want to see what you make!
Here are some ideas for what you can share:
Who you are + how you got started making
Your studio/workspace where the magic happens
Samples of your products
Videos of your process
Your market/craft fair/retail setup
New products/events on the horizon
Advice for other makers
How/where customers can find you + your work
For more ideas on how to tell your story, you can watch all our past takeovers in the TMC Monday highlight on our Instagram!
Ready to show your stuff?
To participate, just fill out this form to get on the roster and we’ll be back with you to confirm your takeover date! You’ll take all your pictures + videos and upload them to a designated Google Drive folder the week before and we’ll post them for you on Monday.
Just a note: this opportunity is for maker businesses who create handmade products or offer creative services. That’s why it’s called Maker Mondays! We reserve the right to accept or deny any applicants, and applying doesn’t guarantee you a spot on the schedule.
