Plan Your Summit Weekend.

If you MAKE, this weekend is for you.

The Maker City Summit is three days of both business and social workshops along with conversations with people who work like you. It will be January 29 – 31 at Maker Exchange.

The theme is MADE: handMADE, homeMADE, selfMADE. This is the weekend to celebrate your talents.

Let’s Break It Down.

How it works.

FRIDAY | Jan. 29: Maker City Soiree. Grab a beverage, meet the speakers and connect with creatives. This evening celebration is open to the public and everyone is invited!

SATURDAY | Jan. 30: Keynotes and breakout sessions. This is the big learning day.

SUNDAY | Jan. 31: More breakouts, connection time, and you head home with a business to-do list.

Keynotes.

DEBBIE MILLMAN, Design Matters | Changing Brands, Branding Change
Changing Brands, Branding Change offers an entertaining sociological, scientific, and anthropological look at why we create brands, why we cling to them, and what happens when they change.

KIM ROBINSON, 3pts | The Rituals of Creative Success
Through relatable stories, practical examples, and actionable exercises, attendees will leave with a practical framework for building rituals that support both their business and the life they want to create.

AARON DRAPLIN, Draplin Design Co. | A Ride Through One Human’s Creative Peaks, Avalanches and Dark Valleys
This is a look at what happens when you let creativity seep into everything:  how you spend your time, how you make a living, how you treat your body, how you show up for the people you love, and how you make sense of being here at all.

Breakout Session Highlights.

Pricing + E-Commerce + Intellectual Property Protection + Decreasing Burnout
Authenticity + Grant Funding + Workshop How-to’s + Visual Storytelling + Business Building

The breakouts are where things get practical.  Bring your questions for these experts. and you’ll leave with a few things to try the very next week.

Extras, if you want 'em.

Why it's worth your weekend.

Created for Makers. Those who sell and those who hobby can benefit in some way.

Speakers are here to teach, not to sell you something.

You leave with a to-do list for Monday from networking to business essentials.

Running a maker business can be lonely. This room isn’t.

What to do after.

When looking for some reflection time, head to these places before you go home:

The CURIO at Maker Exchange. Shop local work without leaving the building.

The SUNSPHERE. Walk over for views of downtown and the Smokies. Open Sundays noon to 4.

Knoxville Museum of ART. Free, right in World’s Fair Park, and the glass collection is worth the stop. Open Sundays 1 to 5.

MARKET Square and GAY Street. Shops, coffee, and dinner downtown.

OLD City. A good spot for a relaxed Sunday night.

IJAMS Nature Center. About 15 minutes away if you want some fresh air before the drive home.
