Amanda Scott Art Studio

Original oil paintings.

Born and raised in the American South, Amanda Scott’s path to becoming a professional artist began unexpectedly—with an invitation to an art class from her husband’s grandfather while she was studying at the University of Tennessee. That single gesture changed everything. For Amanda, who lives with both hearing and vision impairments, art became more than a creative outlet—it became a way to truly see the world.

Her journey as a painter grew from a deep love of beauty and a fascination with visual language. To Amanda, each painting is like constructing a sentence without words—a layered, thoughtful translation of the three-dimensional world onto the flat plane of a canvas. Influenced by old masters and years of dedicated mentorship, she has refined a personal style rooted in post-impressionism, with a warm palette and a beautiful play of light and brushwork.

Working from her home studio in Knoxville, Tennessee, Amanda balances her art practice with her role as a mother of five. She sees homemaking as its own sacred art—one that echoes her belief in storytelling, hospitality, and intentional beauty. Her home is filled with collected works from local artists and faraway travels, each piece a visual memory and cherished moment.

Amanda’s own work reflects a quiet strength and a luminous sensitivity to the rhythms of daily life. Her paintings are invitations—to pause, to wonder, and to connect with the often-overlooked richness of the present moment.

Art and beauty have inherent value. I believe that art can simultaneously hold a memory and represent a current experience. Understanding how we experience art helps us better understand our own culture and identity. I hope my art invites you to wonder, receive, and perhaps consider a new way of seeing. For me, creating art is one of the bravest things I do. – Amanda
