Acrylic Paintings and Note-cards
I am an artist painting from my imagination but inspired by what I see around me. Each acrylic painting is created as a daily reminder that you are more magnificent than you know.
Jessica studied graphic design at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she discovered a love for abstract, evocative shapes. This led her to a work as an abstract artist. Her process is based on a visceral connection to color, coupled with a background in color theory and visual composition. Jessica loves mixing expressive brush strokes with detailed patterning and pools of pigment. These different applications evoke the emotional/expressive, the meticulous, and the uncontrollable/chance forces of life.
I create one of a kind pieces of jewelry meant to make the wearer delighted each time they wear it. I want people to have something that makes them happy and special. I do not have a specific 'style'. I make what is in my head at the moment meaning there will always be something unique and new when shopping with me. I can take custom orders upon request.
Kiln-formed glass is glass that is formed (shaped) in a kiln by fusing, slumping, draping, casting, etc.. I work with sheets and rods of glass , crushed and powdered glass and glass paints. After deciding on my project, I cut the glass and arrange the pieces into my design, then it's off to the kiln. Some pieces require multiple firings, up to 1600 degrees. Most pieces aren't complete without a bit of cold-working, using grinders, saws, sandblasters, etc, to get that finished look.
I use locally found wood and a woodturning lathe to make salad bowls, hollow vessels, and sculptures.

I knit baby accessories like hats, sweaters and heirloom toys. I like to make and produce beautiful things using my own hands. It is why I am so passionate about knitting. And above all that, it is when seeing someone who enjoys and loves the pieces I made for a very, very long time.
I've painted since I could hold a brush and moved to mural work 3 years ago. My fine art explores the similarities and contrasts in machined and botanical forms while my mural work is more design focused. Working large or small I seek to share colorful experiences with the Knoxville community.
Mary Ruden has been doing Public Art projects for over a decade; her influences come from her scientific background. Her two 7’ tall Fiberglass Orchid Flamingo sculptures were created for “Flamingos in Paradise” in Miami Beach, FL; a public art project based on a similar project to the “Cows” in Chicago. She also created “ Guitar Cow” for the CowParade in Austin, TX. Her sculptures and art of native orchids are in an online gallery of the North American Orchid Conservation Center, a Smithsonian partnership. My art celebrates the movement and moments in travel. Appreciating life with open eyes and taking in the sameness and difference in the world changes the traveler. While traveling over 8 years as a volunteer around the world I took photos of everything. I now use those photos as either inspiration or transfers in my pieces. I love texture in art and try to implement either literally or with as a feeling in my work.
I’m from Southern California. I earned a BA & MA in Speech Communication with Minors in Literature, Women’s Studies, and Italian Medieval Studies from UTK.
Swellegant All Natural Soy Candles! These all natural soy candles are individually crafted and hand-poured by me, my husband closes his eyes, smells and names them, and our daughter and dogs approve. It's our unique process.
These elegant candles would be great for teacher gifts, weddings and showers, Mother's Day etc. or just sitting around smelling nice. In fact, they smell just as nice burning as they do sitting around looking pretty.
I create vivid colorful translucent alcohol ink paintings through the application of alcohol ink to aluminum, steel, titanium, copper, and brass sheets. Prior to applying the alcohol ink, texture is added to metal with grinding tools, or a torch is applied to the copper to produce vibrant intricate colors or an "aged" blue green patina is created by chemically treating the copper with salt and ammonia.
