Raeus Jae Cannon is a fiber artist using knitting and pin loom weaving to create one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces. Raeus discovered her mother’s 1930’s pin loom at age seven and quickly was hooked on the little loom that kept her occupied for hours. However, the loom was set aside for more than 40 years until after Raeus was introduced to knitting. Raeus focuses on the back of a garment that’s so often ignored. She wants people to compliment the wearer from the front saying: “you look wonderful today!” from the back she wants them to hear: “your coat/sweater is beautiful!”
At craft shows, I tell people that crocheting is my stress relief; to which they reply "You must be very stressed!" I love creating - whether it's crocheting unique wearable art and accessories, up-cycling wool sweaters into stuffed animals, or reusing vintage doilies to make jackets and vests. I love texture and all my designs have a modern appeal with roots in the past.
We are a family owned & operated t-shirt boutique located downtown. We work with local designers to create unique, regionally inspired designs and print all of our own shirts at our print shop on Broadway. We use all water based inks and specialize in vintage style, ultra-soft tees for the whole family.
My hand-printed bags are structured layers and patterns that were created to be carried around downtown for weekend strolls, but set a distinctive statement in the office that is fresh and unique. Growing up and living in the Appalachian, Blue Ridge valley and inspired by Japanese culture, my designs are simple, fluid, and mindful.
