Illustrations

Whatever you do, you're playing a highly sophisticated game of show and tell in order to connect with your audience. I work with you to create original hand-drawn illustrations that bring unique texture and character to those connections—whether they're happening in your neighborhood or bridging great distances.

Fine Art | Graphic Design

With varying degrees of abstraction, I paint about silence and solitude – essential moments in life. The surface of the painting is critical and I spend time with the texture and colors. In addition to painting, I create digital design work for various clients around the world.

Musical Portrait Paintings

There is no greater gift than melody. Music, along with visual art, can push and pull at the very center of us all. My paintings meld a musician’s melodic aura and unrestrained creativity together on canvas. The artwork is my own interpretation of their creative selves; it is a tribute to their artistic genius. My vision for each portrait is to glimpse the musician’s raw self, that part of themselves they lay bare only in their music. There is a kinship between color and music – both can say what words can not. I give the sound and soul of a musician a visual reflection and projection. My love for music, it’s makers and creators led me to my niche. I use acrylics on cotton canvas in sizes 8x10 up to 30x30. I also take commissioned work.

Nature Inspired Fine Art

I am an artist inspired by nature, interested in capturing very close-up or faraway views. My paintings are primarily watercolor, but I also dabble in acrylic and oil. They are derived from observable details of flowers or landscapes typically, often inspired by my photography and my imagination. God's creation is my biggest influence and I want to express its beauty through my work.

Design Inspired Folk Art

I am an artist with a BFA in studio art who loves to make folk-style paintings and collage pieces made with recycled materials. These works are inspired by a vast array of loves: thrift stores, an affinity for different materials and textures, folk art, cartoons, children's books, animals, fashion, architecture, and design. I love making work that only my brain can dream up, but I also love making custom work for people such as pet portraits cut out of wood and painted as well as portraits of people clad in different recycled papers and memorabilia. I work from my home studio in Parkridge, TN, which allows my love of multitasking (aka A.D.D.) sparkle.

Soil and Steel

SS Logo.jpg

Steel products such as chandeliers, railings, sculpture, etc.

I started my business in 2010 focusing on metalwork and gardening. While I still do some garden work, my business has mainly shifted towards metal art. Aside from sculpture, I have made railings, chandeliers, beds, archways, gates, firescreens, and more. I enjoy designing work for a specific location, and tend to lean towards art deco, art nouveau, arts & crafts / craftsman style. Though I work with with a hard, heavy, and dirty medium, my aim is to soften and shape it into something beautiful that will add to a persons everyday life.

Rachel Writes Fancy

RWF Logo.jpg

Hand lettered art, originals and prints. Custom Gifts and Home Decor.

I create hand-lettered works of art to add a touch of beauty and inspiration into your home. For as long as I can remember, I have loved letterforms — and how the style of the letters speak as much as the words they depict. I was introduced to calligraphy in middle school when I discovered my mom’s old fountain pen, and she taught me how to make fancy letters for the first time. My fascination with letters continued through high school and then college, where I got my BA in studio art. I learned watercolor brush lettering techniques in 2015, and now I'm putting brush to paper to write my favorite quotes with some fancy flair!

Textured Paintings

What excites me most about what I make is that I'm on a path of discovery and exploration of paint as subject, object, material, and texture.

The paintings have great depth, their surfaces have 100s of layers of paint. It wasn't until I carved my first gouge that I was hooked. I was able to reveal the history of the painting and what was locked within. The piece had innocence and potential to be something heroic, and full of information and wonder. My love for exploring paint as object is still fueled by that single gouge, however I manipulate the pieces surface with new tools and applications.

I have two bodies of work; my carvings which for the most apart are my abstracts, with an occasional landscape here and there and my assemblages which are my mermaids, girls with flowers, and animals. My assemblages are made primarily of paint, I reuse the excess that has been carved away from my abstract paintings to create more textures that invites you to play and interact physically and emotionally with the pieces.

I love to play with color, line and texture. In my current work I am exploring paint as texture. It really is something you have to see, touch and experience. I invite you to come enjoy this new body of work, there is something for everyone.
