McKenzie Farms Distilling Company

Corn Grits + Cornmeal Dry Mixes

McKenzie Farms is owned by Marisa & Thomas McKenzie located in Newport, TN. We specialize in non-GMO, heirloom corn and other heirloom grains grown in East Tennessee. Our products can be used in any almost any recipe for baking, cooking, and even some brewing or distilling.

McKenzie Farms brand products is just one small part of our farm production. To understand, let me start at the beginning (not the complete beginning, just a few steps back. It will make sense, I promise).

Thomas McKenzie has been a whiskey distiller for over 20 years. He’s one of the first in his family to do it legally. He learned from his grandfathers, who made sought after moonshine in the woods of south Alabama. His father was a farmer, a businessman, a local politician, mechanic, and all around good man. Thomas learned to make liquor from his grandfathers and farm grain and raise cattle from his father, took forestry classes in high school and read a lot of books, and has been mentored by the best master distillers in the world. He didn’t know it growing up, that his ‘education’ he received would give him the tools he needed to become the distiller he is today.

The other McKenzie, Thomas’s wife Marisa grew up in the north and only knew cornbread from a Jiffy box. But she was raised by parents who loved to cook and food was meant to be shared with friends and family. Growing up in Indiana, Marisa was surrounded by corn fields and only knew ‘knee high by the fourth of July’. Marisa has learned how to cook pretty good grits and cornbread now. The quality ingredients help.

We hope you enjoy them, share them, and cook with them. If you make whiskey with them, that’s fine too, but probably best not to share that with too many others. Y’all come back.

original oil paintings

I've painted for over 35 years, and my favorite locations to paint en plein air are the Smoky Mountains, France, and Italy. Many of my paintings are in private collections throughout the United States and Europe, and my original oils have been exhibited in Giverny, France (home of Monet’s Gardens), Northern Italy, and Tuscany. I've had several solo art shows in Knoxville, and my limited-edition print, “Suffrage on Market Square,” is part of the Historical Exhibit of Art and Artifacts at the General Federation of Women’s Clubs History and Resource Center in Washington, DC. Ginger’s Gems & Junk

Nature based & upcycled home decor

Ginger’s gems & junk is a small business consisting of myself, my husband, and my dad. We are a team of fiery redheads who turn what some call junk into treasure. We work with raw wood and reclaimed wood sourced from local structures. We electrocute wood using the Lichtenberg technique as well - you have to see it! We also are avid rock and mineral collectors and sellers and often utilize them for our designs. We are “redneck fabulous” and part of our charm is seeing us in action.

Sculptural earrings and goods, and illustrations

During the pandemic, I graduated UT with a degree in graphic design. Graduating into an uncertain job market I started Foolish Designs. I started experimenting and truly just make whatever I have fun making. I began experimenting with polymer clay making sculptural earrings and knick-knacks. I have also started to sell some of my print and illustrative designs.

Weekly Wagon

WW Goudy Logo - Trent Sanders.png

Crates for delivering regionally sourced foods

Weekly Wagon started from a desire to eat local food easy. I would go to farmer's markets and talk with people about this. Around that time, a farmer named Troy mentioned that an apartment complex in Chattanooga had once approached him about delivering directly to their residents. It's more common now than ever before that Knoxville residents care about what they eat, where it came from, and how it was grown. Weekly Wagon is here for those kinds of question. It delivers regionally sourced foods directly to your door.

Adventure Rosie

I paint and turn my art into prints, greeting cards and stickers. I also sell originals and sew small things like masks.

I have always loved drawing and painting and telling stories. During the last several years dealing with progressive health issues, art has become my safe haven. A way to express my soul and to enjoy the simple act of making something beautiful and unique even when I can't control the rest of life.
